Best Weddings of 2016

Wow, you guys!  2016 is in the bag, and what a crazy year it was!  Lots of good and bad this year, but I’m going to choose to focus on the good and give a mini recap of all that went down with me personally, and with Birds of a Feather and the amazing clients we served this year.

Personal

Often times my personal life is so intertwined with my business life it is hard to really step back and define what happened to me, vs what happened in my business.  This year was a bit different as I decided to trim down on the amount of weddings I did so that I could focus on my clients and their needs a bit more.  This took me from working a 60+ hour work week, to a normal 40 hour work week.  Idle hands, right?  Here are a few things I did this year just for me…

• Binge watched The OC, Roswell, How to Get Away with Murder, Sleepy Hollow, Parks and Rec, 30 Rock, Orange is the New Black, Bob’s Burgers, Stranger Things, The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, and Master of None
• Made it through all 7 Harry Potter books – TWICE
• Went to Universal Hollywood on Halloween
• Went to Disney and Universal in Orlando over Thanksgiving
• Celebrated our 6th wedding anniversary

Professional

So many wonderful things happened this year at Birds of a Feather, and it has me really fired up to do my goal setting sesh for 2017!  Now that we are going into our 7th year of business, the motto is less “hustle” and more “flow”.  I’ve tried the whole thing where I glorified being busy, and it made me feel neither happy or successful – just tired and worn out.  I feel like we are in a groove now that works for us, and I’m going to continue striving for happiness and balance in my business.  Below are a few things we achieved this year…

• Created and taught the design course for the American Association of Certified Wedding Planners
• Traveled to Los Angeles, Austin, and Charleston to do site visits and vendor meetings for clients
• Did editorial shoots for My Wedding Magazine, Style Me Pretty,  and Magnolia Rouge
• Had a wedding get back to back covers of D Weddings Magazine
• Published by Martha Stewart Weddings
• Cover of My Wedding Magazine
• Had a wedding included in Style Me Pretty’s list of Best Weddings of 2016
• Executed a beautiful wedding in Rancho Palos Verdes, CA
• Traveled to New York to help with the Claire Pettibone show (shout out to The Southern Table for landing that amazing gig!)
• Did editorial shoots in California, South Carolina, Texas (of course), and New York
• Voted a Top 10 Wedding Planner by My Wedding Magazine
• Invited to join Style Me Pretty’s Little Black Book
• Attended Bliss and Bespoke in Charleston, SC
• Published in print in D Weddings Magazine, The Knot Magazine, and My Wedding Magazine, along with numerous blog features
• Increased our following on Instagram from 3K to 12K
• Automated our planning process to include an online system to help us and our clients
• Did 9 beautiful weddings with some amazing vendors and clients!
